For several weeks, the Darien Police Department Detective Division has been developing information regarding reports of narcotics that are being sold from a Raymond Street residence, including several different surveillances.
While surveilling the residence on Thursday afternoon, police said that detectives observed activity that was consistent with a narcotics transaction being conducted, which led to the arrest of the homeowner, 26-year-old Nicholas Torcia.
Police said that a search of Torcia’s home “yielded a substantial amount of evidence that he was distributing marijuana, THC oil cartridges, and vaporizer devices. During the search,, 385 grams of marijuana, 237 THC oil cartridges, and 12 vaporizers were located and seized. The estimated street value of the contraband recovered was over $16,000. $635 in cash was also seized.
Torcia was arrested at the scene and charged with operating a drug factory, two counts of possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Torcia remains remanded into the custody of the Darien Police Department in lieu of $50,000 bond. He is due back in court on March 12 to answer the charges.
